Five Rivers will get a facelift on May 4 as volunteers remove invasive plants.

ALBANY COUNTY — Two local parks are participating in I Love My Park Day, a statewide event held each year on the first Saturday of May to celebrate and enhance New York’s parks, historic sites, greenway trails and other public lands.

At Thacher Park, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m on May 4., volunteers, meeting at the Pear Orchard Picnic Area, will clear trails, spread mulch in the playground, garden and clean up roads.

At Five Rivers Environmental Education Center, from 9 a.m. to noon on May 4, volunteers, meeting at the pavilion, will work on the wildlife gardens and remove invasive species.

I Love My Park Day is an annual event coordinated by Park & Trails New York in partnership with the New York State Office of Park, Recreation and Historic Preservation and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
