Photos: Cold Weather Dampers Birds
On Saturday, April 13, the Voorheesville Blackbirds’ track team had to battle two foes: the weather and other track teams in the Green Dragon Relays at Cornwall High School.

Big push: Blackbirds’ TJ Ellewood uses his forward momentum to push his shot with his right arm as he competes in the frosh/soph shot put event. Ellewood finished 45th with a distance of 18 feet, 5.50 inches.

Fighting the wind: Blackbirds’ Jack Fitzgerald uses all his strength to push his shot for his first attempt in the frosh/soph shot put event. Fitzgerald finished 36th with a distance of 23 feet, 5.50 inches and 13th as a team with TJ Ellewood with a total distance of 41 feet, 11 inches.

Tidal wave: Blackbirds’ Judah Buckley (6), Hayden Heckler (7), and Peter Coffey (9) all land in the water as they compete in the frosh/soph 2000-meter steeplechase. Buckley finished 12th with a time of 8:46.82, Heckler in 9th with a time of 8:08.28, and Coffey in 16th with a time of 8:58.51.
