SLINGERLANDS — After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Gail P. Ryan-Tannen died on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 78.

She was born on Aug. 4, 1945 in Bronx, New York, the daughter of the late Edward and Anna Florence Harnett and the sister of the late Edward Jr. and Robert Harnett.

“She was married for 47 loving years to the late Denis C. Ryan,” her family wrote in a tribute. “She and Den spent their youth raising five independent children, including her beloved sons, the late Timothy and Denis Jr.

“Gail and Denis, ‘Denny,’ owned and operated Tri-City Transmissions, a local business in Albany, that they conducted with honesty and integrity for many years.

“She raised her family for over 35 years in the village of Altamont where she worked for Dr. Grover, the local physician for several years, and established lifelong friendships before moving to her current home in Slingerlands.

“Her favorite place to vacation was on Nantucket, where many memories were made with her family.

“She was extremely generous to those in need, which she instilled in all of her children and family members. She regularly baked for the volunteers at the Slingerlands Fire/Rescue Department.”
