Photos: Dutch Sail Fast In Sectionals, Girls Hold Onto A Slim Lead
On Saturday, Jan. 27, the Guilderland indoor team battled other division 1 teams in the Section 2, division 1 sectional championships held at Hudson Valley Community College. Guilderland girls, with 129 points, have a 14 point lead over Saratoga as they wait for the throwers to go, on Feb. 3, at Shenendehowa, boys are seventh with 29 points.

Down the stretch they come: Guilderland’s Kendall Barnhart comes racing down the track as she battles Colonie’s Lilly Palmer in the final leg as they come toward the finish line in the 4-by-200-meter relay. Barnhart made up a ton of ground to bring home the title for the Dutch with a time of 1:51.33.

Neck and neck: Guilderland’s Ethan Solomon (4) and Trevor Whitney (5) race down the track next to Bethlehem’s Jason Black in the seventh heat in the 55-meter dash. Solomon finished 19th overall with a time of 7.21 seconds and Whitney finished 11th overall with a time of 7.10 seconds.

All together now: Guilderland’s Addison Vellekoop (1), Alexa Kosier (4), and Rebecca Kleiber (11) all break away from the starting line in their 1,000-meter run. Vellekoop finished 2nd with a time of 3:04.23, Kosier finished 18th with a time of 3:28.99, and Kleiber finished 10th with a time of 3:19.83.
