Shopping crawl to benefit The Caring Closet

Amanda Beedle felt moved to tears at the December 2022 ribbon-cutting ceremony for The Caring Closet and, indeed, her voice often cracks with emotion as she talks with passion about the charity she founded. “Now that students have become reliant on it … I can’t stop,” she said. “My heart has never been fuller.”

GUILDERLAND — The Caring Closet is getting some help from a shopping crawl at Stuyvesant Plaza.

The not-for-profit Closet, started by Guilderland Councilwoman Amanda Beedle, provides hygiene products to public school students and their families.

The shopping crawl will run from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31; tickets, which may be purchased through Eventbrite, cost $5.

The evening will feature five of the Plaza’s shops and restaurants — Pottery Barn, Jean Paul Spa & Salon, Sur La Table, Rad Soap Co., and 5th Corner Goods & Gifts — paired with five pop-up vendors, providing offers and refreshments.

Participants will record their purchases on a card stamped by merchants and will be entered in a raffle for a gift basket once four purchases are recorded.
