If you care about New Scotland, please vote for Bill Hennessy
To the Editor:
On Election Day, it will be my privilege to again vote for incumbent William “Bill” Hennessy for the New Scotland Town Board. During his several consecutive terms, he has accomplished so much for our town.
As a consulting engineer, Bill has shared his expertise on numerous projects including the passage of the hamlet law with standards that will preserve our town’s physical beauty and promote its small-town character. He contributed to the update of our comprehensive plan which, among other things, prioritizes the promotion of affordable housing.
Bill also continues efforts toward the consolidation of our water districts and co-wrote the grant application for the Hilton Barn renovation, one of the largest grants ever awarded to our town.
For our recreation, Bill has worked tirelessly to develop the new 15-acre Hilton Park which now connects to the popular rail trail. Bill also sponsored the use of federal American Rescue Plan Act funding for the purchase of a new senior bus, a benefit that is so important to our seniors.
As a small-business owner himself, Bill knows the value that small businesses bring to our town. He is a founding member of the newly formed “Our New Scotland” local small-business group.
Finally, for Bill, climate change is one of the biggest topics of our lifetime. He is very concerned about its effects on our community. He is proud that our town has achieved certification as a New York Climate Smart Community dedicated to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from all sources, including those caused by human activity.
In all aspects of our town government, we have greatly benefited from Bill’s professional integrity, wise judgment and unwavering dedication to his responsibilities as a town board member. He exemplifies excellence in his ability to effectively and positively govern our town.
If you care about New Scotland, please vote for Bill Hennessy and the Democratic slate for town board. He has always gotten the job done well and will continue to do so.
