What is the application deadline?
Tentative dates for the internships and application deadlines are found on the application.
Is there an age requirement?
Interns must be a student enrolled in a degree program, or having graduated no more than one year before the application deadline. There is no age requirement.
What prior experience is needed?
Interns must have at least one year of experience at an independent publication or one prior journalism internship or job.
Are interns paid?
Interns are W-2 employees for a six-week period, paid a gross $650 per week.
How long does the program run?

What do interns actually do?
Interns are treated as rookie staff reporters, reporting and writing news articles, taking photos and video, and contributing to editorial meetings. Read the reporter's job description.
Does The Altamont Enterprise provide interns housing?
Interns are responsible for housing themselves. Workspace is available and working from home is possible, but interns must be locally based.
Do interns need cars?
Owning a car is strongly encouraged as the coverage area is suburban and rural.
How soon will I hear?
All applicants will hear back on a decision within five days of the application deadline.
