Rail-trail bridge: Transparency is always welcomed

To the Editor:
I wanted to thank Ed Rosen for his very informative Aug. 3 letter (“County should provide full answers on rail trail-bridge …”).  It appears there were three viable options for the crossing: a street level crossing, a pedestrian bridge, and a maintenance-truck-capable bridge.

While I don’t know much about the specifics of the selection process, transparency is always welcomed, so Ed’s call for additional review and public disclosure seems reasonable.

I do hope that any review of the selection does not conflate the failure of the execution of the bridge project with the merit of the vehicle-capable bridge option decision. The unfortunate failure of the bridge could not have been anticipated and could not have been a factor in the evaluation.
