VILLAGE NOTES
— The engine of the 12:20 local from Albany ran off the turntable at Altamont Tuesday. Much difficulty was experienced in getting the engine back on the track. The crew worked for two hours in the boiling sun and were pretty well worn out when they met with success.
— A large black snake was encountered Monday forenoon by William Slabom and M. W. Becker on the private road leading to the Parker residence along the mountain side. The snake was dispatched with shovels after a spirited struggle. It measured over five feet in length and about three inches in diameter.
PARKER’S CORNERS
School closed Thursday with a picnic at French’s Hollow. Our efficient teacher Miss Violet Becker has been re-engaged for next term.
QUAKER STREET
“The Adventures of Grandpa,” a comedy drama in three acts, will be given by local talent on Friday evening, June 29th, and it ought to prove one of the best evenings of entertainment given here in some time. The young folks have been practicing for this event for some weeks. Get your tickets at once. It will be held in the Christian church, and everybody will be there.

Earl Baxter drove his new Overland car to New York last week.
VOORHEESVILLE
The sale of home made ice cream held on the lawn of the I. O. O. F. hall on Saturday evening netted the Rebekah Lodge $25.
Death of Silas W. Chesebro
Silas W. Chesebro, a life long resident of Voorheesville, who has been suffering for several months with pernicious anemia and stomach trouble, died on Tuesday, June 19, at noon.
Mr. Chesebro was born in 1851 and was married in 1881 to Harriet J. Martin, whose death occurred about two years ago. He had been a member of the Voorheesville M. E. church for over forty years. He was sympathetic with all good civic movements and had voted the Prohibition ticket since 1884.
He was a good citizen, a good neighbor, a good friend and was highly respected by all who knew him.

Darwin Swarts from Rensselaerville runs a daily bus from Medusa to Albany by way of Westerlo, fare $1.25 each way.

Van Derzee La Grange and James La Grange in company with Alfred Frederick of Guilderland and Rev. John Scarlet of Loudonville are on a fishing trip to Lake Cossayuna.

Apparently “Walden’s Rest” will be well patronized again this season. Already the boarders are filling the house. Newly weds are included.
FEURA BUSH
John Wiltsie met with an accident last Friday while loading logs in the woods. He was thrown to the ground, senseless, but soon recovered and was able to visit a doctor in Ravena. He is badly bruised about the head and sustained a fractured arm.
