Photos: Dutch Girls Burn Up The Track In Middletown

This past weekend, June 9 and 10, the Guilderland girls’ track team competed with the best in the state. The New York State Public High School Athletic Association event was held at Middletown High School. The Dutch are coming home with medals from most of their events.

Final stretch: Guilderland’s Tatum Cramer sprints hard towards the finish line in the division 1, 100-meter trails on Friday morning. Cramer finished 21st overall with a time of 12.82 seconds and also finished 11th in the state in the long jump with a distance of 16 feet, 6.25 inches.

Neck and neck: Guilderland’s Megan Swan battles Arlington’s Riley Pettigrew as they race down the track in the Division 1, 100-meter trail. Swan finished 14th overall in the state with a time of 12.61 seconds.

Quick start: Guilderland’s Kendall Barnhart breaks cleanly from the blocks in the division 1, 400-meter finals. Barnhart finished third in the state with a time of 57.06 seconds.

Battle upfront: Guilderland’s Addison Vellekoop races alongside two other competitors during her heat in the Division 1, 800-meter run. Vellekoop finished second in the state and third in federations with a time of 2:07.80.

Big throws: Guilderland’s Kadija Sano releases her shot in her first attempt on Friday afternoon. Sano finished third in the state with a distance of 38 feet, 11 inches then on Saturday finished fifth in federations with a distance of 38 feet, 11.50 inches, a personal best.

Hand to hand: Guilderland’s Kendall Barnhart extends her right hand to give the baton to her teammate Megan Swan in the Division 1, four by 100-meter relay. The relay team finished second in the state with a time of 48.23 seconds on Friday.

In a battle: Guilderland’s Megan Swan extends to give Saida Assabahi the baton in the second leg of the four by 400-meter relay. The relay team finished second in the state with a time of 3:55.20 on Friday.

Getting every inch: Guilderland’s Elizabeth Liu leaps with every fiber to get over the bar on Saturday morning. Liu finished 31st in the state with a height of 5 feet even.

Getting position: Guilderland’s Addison Vellekoop uses her elbows to fight to get out in front of the runners that are next to her at the start of the 1500-meter run. Vellekoop finished 14th overall with a time of 4:40.00.

Kicking it in the finals: Guilderland’s Parker Steele sails over the hurdle in the Division 1, 100-meter finals on Saturday. Steele finished fourth with a time of 14.62 seconds then went on to finish sixth in federations with a time of 14.93 seconds.

Finishing strong: Guilderland’s Kendall Barnhart sprints hard down the track as she competes in the 400-meter federations on Saturday. Barnhart finished in sixth with a time of 57.13 seconds.

Clean exchange: Guilderland’s Avery Kerr extends the baton to her teammate Alexa Kosier as Kerr completes her portion of the Division 1, 4-by-800-meter relay on Saturday. The relay team finished fifth in the state and sixth in federations.

Another record broken: Guilderland’s Saida Assabahi hands over the baton to her teammate Addison Vellekoop for the third leg in the four by 400-meter relay. The relay team on Saturday finished second in federations and broke their own school record for the second straight day with a time of 3:53.78.
