A new sidewalk along Guilderland’s Route 20 is part of a sidewalk system that is 75-percent complete that would run from Albany to Rotterdam, said Supervisor Peter Barber.

GUILDERLAND — The pedestrian crosswalk that crosses Route 20, including to Guilderland Elementary School, will be closed for two days next week.

When the YMCA was built on Winding Brook Drive, the driveway to Guilderland Elementary School was reconfigured to line up with Winding Brook; there is a traffic light at that intersection.

Recently sidewalks have been built along that stretch of busy Route 20.

According to a Friday announcement from the town of Guilderland, the contractor for the Route 20 sidewalk project will be installing a new pedestrian crossing signal at that intersection.

The project is expected to start on Monday, Nov. 7, and continue through Wednesday, Nov. 9, so the crosswalk will be closed for those two days.
