Schoharie Library Notes for Tuesday, October 25, 2022

The Schoharie Library is open on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.; on Thursday from noon to 7 p.m.; and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

We’re are currently offering these programs:

— Halloween Bash and Costume Parade: Thursday, Oct. 27, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Join us for games, crafts, stories, refreshments, and a costume parade around the library;

— Middle Grade Book Group Coraline Celebration: Wednesday, Oct. 27, after the Halloween Bash at about 5:30 p.m  Costumes welcome! Youth in grades 3 through 6 are welcome to join us. Signup: https://bit.ly/MGBookGroupSHO;

— Teen Thursday: Every Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. Come hang out in our Teen Room — socialize, create in our Makerspace, play board games, code with our Dash Robot, share book recommendations, and much more! Kids ages 13 to young adults are welcome! No registration is required;

— Feeding the Birds and Cleaning Your Feeders: Thursday, Oct. 20, at 6 p.m. Learn about which foods are best for the birds you want to attract, and how to care for bird feeders and nests. — Story time with Miss Yvonne: Fridays at 10 a.m. Stories, songs, fun activities;

— Knitcetera at the Library: Tuesdays, Nov. 8 and 22, 10:30 a.m. to noon. Embroider, sew, knit, anything goes;

— Board of Trustees Meeting: Wednesday, Nov. 10, 7 p.m. The public is welcome;

— Gratitude Journaling and Decorate a Pencil Case: Thursday Nov 10, 4 to 5:30 p.m., Ages 10+ Engage in Writing Prompts, illustrate a journal entry and learn about daily gratitude journaling.  Decorate a pencil box and a starting journal to take home!  Please Register at: https://bit.ly/SHOjournal;

— Decorate a Ceramic Mug or Bowl: Friday, Nov. 11, 2 to 3:30 p.m. Dream up a creative design, then use porcelain markers to decorate. Take it home and bake it to make it permanent. https://bit.ly/Mug-Bowl;

— No Comfort for the Undertaker Book Launch Party: Saturday, Nov. 12, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Join local author Chris Keefer to celebrate the publication of her mystery novel! Chris will talk about the book and her other writings, give readings, answer questions, and sign books. No Comfort for the Undertaker, plus a chapbook of Chris’ humorous rants and books by other Writing Club members, will be available for sale until 2pm. Refreshments will be served;

— Bassett Healthcare Cancer Services Program Table: Tuesday, Nov. 15, 1 to 5 p.m. Mitzi Sackett, Community Outreach Specialist, will provide information and answer questions about the Cancer Services Program, which provides screening, diagnostic services and referral to treatment and support. Stop by and learn about this valuable program; and

— Service Dogs with Jubilee Schmid: Tuesday, Nov. 15, 4 p.m. Join Jubilee Schmid and her service dog Sydney to learn about what service dogs do, how they are trained, service dog etiquette, what they do for fun, and more! No registration required.
