Raymond and Surace join Schenectady Radiologists
GUILDERLAND — Two new specialists have joined Schenectady Radiologists, PC, which has been providing medical imaging services to the Capital Region since the 1970s.
SRPC has two offices: Balltown/Niskayuna Medical Imaging, at 2546 Balltown Road, in suite 100, and Guilderland Medical Imaging at 3757 Carman Road, in suite 103.
Dr. Sara Raymond, who has specialized training in breast imaging, joins the practice after working as a fellow and clinical instructor in the University of Virginia Health System and as the chief resident at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. She received her undergraduate degree at the University of California and her doctor of medicine degree at Albany Medical College.
Dr. Raymond joins Dr. Areta Pidwerbetsky at SRPC, where, as breast imaging specialists, they are a valuable resource to women, said a press release.
“Mammography saves lives and women should be proactive about seeking screening,” said Dr. Raymond in the release.
A classical pianist fluent in Farsi, she lives in Guilderland with her husband and son.
Dr. Joseph Surace also joins SRPC, where he will specialize in musculoskeletal imaging.
Dr. Surace is a graduate of Florida State University and the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He trained in Level 1 urban trauma units, and completed his diagnostic radiology residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx.
Most recently, Dr. Surace trained as a fellow under Dr. Javier Beltran at Maimonides Hospital, where he specialized in musculoskeletal and orthopedic imaging and image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
“We typically work closely with orthopedic surgeons and provide support for our colleagues who want a second opinion on a study,” said Dr. Surace of musculoskeletal radiologists.
A skier and musician, he was born and raised in upstate New York and lives in Saratoga Springs.
Jim Mooney, SRPC practice administrator, said in the press release, “We welcome the addition of Drs. Surace and Raymond to our team. Our top priority is to develop a complimentary group of high quality, caring professionals who collaboratively provide excellent care for our patients.”
