Westerlo Library Notes for Wednesday, July 13, 2022

Bente Hirsch, who works in oils and pastels, will have her artwork on display at the Westerlo Library in July and August. Her favorite subjects are the Helderberg Hilltowns.

Oceans of Possibilities is the theme for summer programs at the Westerlo Public Library. On July 12, 19, and 26 at 10:30 a.m., there will be Messy Play in the Westerlo Town Park, followed by Coffee Connect for parents at 11:30 a.m. 

On July 20, and 27 and Aug. 3, 10, and 17 at 6 p.m., there will be STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) activities.  See you at the Westerlo Town Park pavilion!

New exhibit

Come see the work of Bente Hirsch in the gallery space in the Hannay Community Room. Bente works in oils and pastels, and her favorite subjects are the Hilltowns. Her work will be on exhibit for July and August. The gallery is open during regular library hours.

Third Thursday

Book Club

The Third Thursday Book Club will meet on July 21 at 6 p.m. to discuss “The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell” by Robert Dugoni. Copies are available at the library.

Walk and

Book Talk

The Westerlo Library has a Walking Group. We meet at the library, Wednesdays at 9 a.m. and Tuesdays at 6 p.m. All are welcome to walk!  Bring a water bottle and book suggestions.  If these times are not convenient, give a call at 518-797-3415 and we’ll come up with another time.

July Spice

Take-and-Make

The July spice is black pepper. Pick up a sample and three recipes at the library. This month’s recipes are lemon dill orzo with snap peas, black pepper cultured butter biscuits and black pepper beef stir fry.

STEAM ahead 

July and August’s theme for STEAM take-and-makes is “Oceans of Possibilities” to go along with the Summer Programs. There are new kits every week.
