Carole Elmendorf

VOORHEESVILLE — Carole (née Sellnow) Elmendorf, a mother and grandmother who loved animals, died on Friday, July 8, 2022. She was 83.
She was born on Aug. 4, 1939, daughter of the late Edward and Dorothy (née Ochse) Sellnow.

“Carole was a communicant of New Scotland Presbyterian Church and always enjoyed visits by Reverend Holly S. Cameron,” her family wrote in a tribute.

“A lifelong resident of Voorheesville/Altamont, Carole loved animals more than people most of the time,” her family said. She worked for the former Blue Spruce Farms and the University at Albany for many years, handling research animals.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas K. Elmendorf and his wife, Daisy, Mark E. Elmendorf and Mary Ellen Donnelly; by her sister, Joan Lighthart, and her husband, Charles; by her brother, brother, Paul Sellnow; by her brother-in-law, William Elmendorf and his wife, Nancy; by her sister-in-law, Lorraine Bowen Sellnow, and by her grandchildren: Kyle Elmendorf, Kyra Elmendorf, and Keefe Elmendorf.

Her husband, Kenneth, died before her, as did her daughter, Dawn Joan Elmendorf, and her brother, Edward.

A private graveside service for Carole will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
