Real L. Levesque of Trenton, Illinois and formerly of East Berne and Zephyrhills, Florida, died on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 99.

He was born May 4, 1923 in Quebec, Canada, a son of the late Charles and Rose (née Lizotte) Levesque.

He grew up in Canada, working on the family farm and later worked as a union carpenter for 20 years, then at General Electric for 10 years. After moving to Florida, he enjoyed working at the Saddlebrook Golf Club for 20 years.

“In his free time,” his family wrote in a tribute, “he enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening. His greatest love was spending time with his family.”

Real L. Levesque is survived by his wife, Jean (née Ortado) Levesque, of Trenton, Illinois whom he married on Feb. 11, 1956 in Richmond Hill, New York, and by their children, Denise Baker of Trenton, Illinois; Diane Kopecki and her husband, Frank, of Schenectady; Geri Levesque of Anaheim, California; Robert Levesque and his wife, Melissa, of Garden Ridge, Texas; and Jeannine Huegen and her husband, Mark, of Trenton, Illinois.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Shaun Sullivan and his wife, Heather; David Sullivan and his wife, Robbi; Nicholas Baker and his wife, Kasey; Jeff Edwards and his wife, Polly; Brian Edwards; Allison Levesque; Robert Holtz; Jennifer Seely and her husband, John; and Ashley Huegen, and by his great-grandchildren, Seth and Brady Sullivan; Ryan, Jacob and Everett Sullivan; Aubree and Emery Baker; Emma Edwards; and Bennett Seely.

He is survived, too, by his sisters, Cecile Beaulieu and Marie-Berthe Cote, and by many nieces and nephews.

His parents, Charles and Rose (née Lizotte) Levesque, died before him, as did his siblings, Gilbert, Leopold, Fernando, Charles, Gilles, and Rita Levesque.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 16, at 11 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Father Gene Neff presiding.
