WESTERLO — Dennis C. McDermott, who enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow, died on Friday, May 13, 2022, at St. Peter’s Hospital. He was 74.
He was born in Catskill on Sept. 9, 1947 to the late Charles and Mildred Furman McDermott. He was raised in Knox, and then settled in Westerlo with his family.

He worked as a longshoreman at the Port of Albany, and then in ground maintenance at Spaulding & Rogers Manufacturing.

“He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching them grow,” his family wrote in a tribute.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; by his daughter, Denise; by his son, Dennis Jr., and his wife, Carrie; by his grandchildren, Bridget and Logan; by his brothers, Charlie and his wife, Terri, and Kevin and his wife, Kelli; by his sister, Connie Arnold, and her husband, Ron; and by several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.

As per his wishes, his body has been privately cremated and no services will be taking place.
