Maple Festival breakfasts and tours coming in March
To the Editor:
Mark your calendars! Kiwanis is pleased to announce that there will be Maple Festival breakfasts and tours and a Memorial Day Parade this year, with a few changes.
Maple Festival pancake breakfasts will be held on:
— Saturday, March 19, from 8 to 11:30 a.m., at the First Reformed Church in Berne;
— Sunday, March 20, from 8 a.m. to noon, at the Berne firehouse to benefit Girl Scouts;
— Saturday, March 26, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Helderberg Lutheran Church; and
— Sunday, March 27, from 8 a.m. to noon, at the Berne firehouse to benefit the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Future Farmers of America.
Free self-guided driving tours will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on each of those four days at the following participating Hilltown maple producers:
— Malachi Farm at 2548 Berne-Altamont Road (Route 156) in Knox;
— Mountain Winds Farm at 12 Williamson Road in Berne; and
— Bittersweet Maple at 44 Schanz Lane in Berne.
Brochures with maps will be available at each of the breakfast venues.
The Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 30, will follow the motorized format we used last year, meaning it will include vehicles and floats, but no marching units. Details will be made available in the coming weeks.
We are encouraged by news of COVID infections subsiding and we are looking forward to seeing our friends and neighbors again for these traditional community events.
