NEW SCOTLAND. 

There are two vacancies in the town of New Scotland offices, to be filled. Appointments will be made in a few days to take the place of Franklin Albright, overseer of the poor, who is too ill to attend to his duties, and that of Henry Smith, as constable, who refused to serve. 

 

NOTICE TO LOT OWNERS 

The annual tax of $1.00 on lots in Fairview cemetery is due and may be paid to Joseph Snyder or Miss Hazel Hogan, collectors, at Altamont. After 30 days, 5 per cent will be charged for collection. 

 

VILLAGE NOTES. 

— The Altamont Motor Sales company has unloaded a car of “Fords” consisting of two runabouts, two touring cars, one sedan and a tractor. Another car load has just arrived. 

— The steel work of the new bridge over the Bozenkill creek at Becker’s on the Osborn’s Corners and Schenectady state highway, has been completed. A temporary plank floor has been put down, to be used until next spring when a concrete floor will replace it. The bridge is now open to traffic. 

— At a meeting held in Enterprise hall Monday evening, a basketball association was formed. It is planned to secure members for the organization, the membership fee being 50 cents. The purpose of the organization is to provide a basketball team to represent Altamont. It is a very worthy object, and one that should have the support of all who are interested in our young people and in keeping them here. The team will play in Makely’s hall as soon as the improvements are completed. 

 

LEE’S CORNERS.
Arrangements are being made to have a community Christmas tree at the North Knox church on Thursday evening, Dec. 22. Every one is very cordially invited. 

 

CLARKSVILLE. 

The Clarksville military band will give a benefit supper and concert in the parlors of the Methodist church on New Year’s eve, Dec. 31, from 6 to 9 o’clock. The band will furnish music for the event. Every one is urged to come and hear the band play. Supper will be served for 50 cents. 

 

CENTRAL BRIDGE. 

Our local merchants have decorated their store windows for Christmas and Christmas trade is good. 

— Three trainmen who were riding in the caboose were badly hurt when the coupling broke on a freight train as it was passing through this village. 

 

THOMPSON’S LAKE. 

— Mrs. John Snyder entertained Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eli Secor, a few of her friends at a quilting “bee.” 

— Harrison Davis is no better at this writing.

 

CLASSIFIEDS. 

SPORTSMEN NOTICE — On account of inability to hunt, will now sell my thoroughbred buckfield blue fox hound. A genuine good one; refused $50 for her last fall. The first $30 takes her. Address Edson L. Quick, Westerlo, N. Y. 

NOTICE — Will the person who took traps from our corn field Dec. 11th please return them and save trouble, as they are known. LeRoy Kiltz, Altamont, R. D. 3.
