Voorheesville Library Notes for Wednesday, August 25, 2021
Partnering with Project Linus, as well as Sgt. Henry Johnson Veterans House, the Voorheesville Public Library has joined The Great Give Back program, to provide a day of opportunities for our patrons to participate in meaningful, service-oriented experiences.
On Sunday, Sept. 12, from 1 to 4 p.m., we will be providing a No-Sew Throw kit for patrons to pick up. These can be made as a family project or individually. The completed blankets need to be returned to the library by Oct. 10, and will be donated to local organizations in need. Please register to receive your No-Sew Throw kit.
Take a walk with
the village historian
See the streets of Voorheesville as never before with Village Historian, Dennis Sullivan, on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m. This 2-hour walking tour will begin at Voorheesville Elementary School. Dennis is the author of the book “Voorheesville, New York: A Sketch of the Beginnings of a Nineteenth-Century Railroad Town.”
Registration is required, and limited to 30 people. Attendees must follow all current COVID safety guidelines. Please park at the Elementary School parking area. The rain date is Saturday, Sept. 25
Cybersecurity 101
Join presenter and information-technology expert John Love for this virtual workshop on Cybersecurity, 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 31. Learn how to identify and protect your equipment and data, at home and at work. Register on our event calendar to receive the Zoom link.
TAG meets
Students in grades 7 and up are invited to join TAG, the Teen Advisory Group. Librarian Debbie Sternklar holds occasional TAG meetings in person and/or on Zoom, and surveys members for ideas and input about events and services for middle and high school teens.
Please register online for further information, including community service openings. The next meeting will be at 3 p.m., Monday, Sept. 20.
Book sale
The Friends of the Library annual Fall Book Sale will be held Sept. 24 to 26. The proceeds from this sale help to fund many important Library programs. Book and media donations are limited to two boxes or bags per vehicle, and are only accepted during Encore!Books regular business hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please, do not drop off donations when the book sheds are closed.

Holiday hours
In observation of the Labor Day holiday, the Library will be closed Saturday, September 4 thru Monday, Sept. 6. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 7. Please check our website for the latest update on current hours.
