ALTAMONT — Stanley L. Dean Jr. of Altamont, a dedicated family man, died at home on Thursday, June 3, 2021. He was 87.

Born in Delhi, New York on Sept. 18, 1933, he was the son of Dr. Stanley and Gertrude (née Wagner) Dean.

“Stan married the love of his life, Norma Wallace, in 1954,” his family wrote in a tribute. “They moved to Altamont in 1960 where they raised their family.

“Since his retirement in 1995, after 25 years with the Guilderland School District, Stan continued to be active in the Altamont Reformed Church, serving on numerous committees. He was also active with the Altamont Senior Citizens until his passing.

“He loved spending time with his family, picnicking, swimming and boating in the Adirondacks. He also enjoyed playing golf with friends and family. He was an avid sports fan, a passion he shared with his son, Stan.”

He is survived by his son, Stan III; by his daughters, Diane Van Buren and her husband, Steve, and Nancy Warner and her husband, Paul. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Andrea (Steve) Witham, Michael Dean (Scott), and Caitlyn Dean (Tucker).

His wife, Norma, died on May 10, 2021.  His son Robert, and his brother, Wayne, also died before him.

A private service will be held for the family.
