Jean M. Wright, a retired kindergarten teacher of 32 years, died on Friday, May 21, 2021. She was 82.

She was born on Feb. 7, 1939 with her twin Janet (Salzer) to Raymond and Alberta Wright. They joined their older sister Ruth Elaine (DeWitt).

“Jean loved teaching children and also loved music,” her family wrote in a tribute. “She was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church in Berne where she loved singing and being a member of the bell choir. Jean was also a member of the Eastern Star where she held many leadership positions. She was also a member of the Hilltown Senior Citizens.”

She is survived by her family, Stacey Wright, David and Holly Clark, Susan and Kevin Pyne and their children, David and Carolyn DeWitt and their children, and Jon and Angie DeWitt and their children, and many cousins.

Her parents died before her, as did her sisters and her nephew, Jon DeWitt.

An Eastern Star service and her funeral were both on Sunday, May 23, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery in Berne.
