Kathryn Elizabeth Wright

WESTERLO — Kathryn Elizabeth Wright of New Salem and Estero, Florida, died Monday, May 3, 2021 at home with her family. She was 85.

“She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt,” her family wrote in a tribute.

Born in Albany on Sept. 26, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Phillip R. and Phyllis E. (née Gore) Wood Sr.

“Kay had traveled extensively during her lifetime,” her family wrote. “She had been a life member of the New Salem Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary and a founding and life member of Bussin’ Buddies Chapter of the Family Motor Coach Association.

“She and her husband were lap sponsors at the Indy 500.  She was former president of Bonita Springs Ladies Elks and librarian at Corkscrew Woodlands, Estero, Florida.”

Kathryn Elizabeth Wright is survived by her children, Donna Greenwood and her husband, Mike, Laura Wright-Smith and her husband, Charles, and Cindi Madej and her husband, David; by her sisters-in-law, Yvonne and Mary Ann Wood; by her granddaughter, Maria Daniels-Madison and her husband, Mike; by her step-grandchildren, Zach Smith, Damon Ortiz, and Alyssa Greenwood-Leroux; and by her great granddaughters, Kylie and Kamryn Daniels.

She was also the aunt of Robert and Gerald Wright; Diane Pemberton; and Brian, Mark, Autumn, Daniel, and Devon Wood.

Her parents, Phillip R. and Phyllis E. (née Gore) Wood Sr., died before her, as did her husband, Donald W. Wright; daughter, Kathryn Wright-Ortiz; brothers, Phillip R. Wood Jr. and Wayne P. Wood; and nephew, Christopher Wood.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
