Tax Help

This year, designated AARP Tax Aide sites (such as GPL) will not be open for 2020 tax preparation assistance.  However, we have compiled a list of handy resources for your reference at:  http://bit.ly/GPLTaxes. Please check back often, as we expect state and federal tax forms and instructions soon.

Apple Tech

and résumé help

Get customized assistance on using an Apple Watch, iPhone, MacBook, iPad or Apple TV, or navigating the Learning Express tool on our website to craft your résumé – all from the comfort of home. Schedule your 1:1 virtual appointment Tuesday evenings starting at 6:30 p.m., and Thursday mornings starting at 10 a.m. on the Events tab of our website, indicating the topic of interest in the Notes field.

Valentine project

Spread the neighborly love!  We’re collecting your valentines through Friday, Feb. 5 for Community Caregivers to distribute to their clients.  Create one or more valentines no larger than 5 x 7, or repurpose an old card.  Feel free to write an uplifting message and/or sign your name if desired.  Drop off cards to the Valentine Card Project Box in the Normanskill Room during curbside hours. Community Caregivers will provide envelopes and mail the cards to clients to brighten their day.

Take the Library

to Your Child

The first Saturday in February is traditionally “Take Your Child to the Library Day.”  During the pandemic, we’re reversing that with curbside goodie bags you can take home to your child, chock-full of booklets, coloring pages and fun surprises. These will be available for curbside pickup on Saturday, Feb. 6, 1 to 3 p.m. No registration is needed; simply stop by to take one per child.

Night Owls Online

Our next virtual book discussion on Monday, Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m. will focus on “The Perfect Couple” by Elin Hilderbrand. Transport yourself from the dead of winter to a Nantucket summer wedding with a murder mystery twist, then let’s meet up to talk about it! Please place a hold on a copy for curbside pickup. Contact us at or 518-285-0050 for assistance placing a hold.

Curbside kits

Preschoolers can benefit from our fun and educational Grab & Go Storytime Kits, intended for ages 2 to 5. No registration needed; simply pick up one kit per child every other Monday. The themes are:  Superheroes; Feb. 8: Winter; Feb. 22:  Drive & Ride.

Curbside hours

Pick up requested materials via the side entrance of our Normanskill Room on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to  4 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday from 1 to 7 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.
