I love seeing newly built projects in town

To the Editor:

As a 33-year resident of Guilderland, I love to see the progress that our town has been making recently with new homes being built, new apartments in the works, and new business growth. I own a two-family home in Westmere, have raised two children in the Guilderland school district, and now have seen one grandchild graduate from Guilderland High School and another is in elementary school in the town.

I have followed the progress of several of the projects that have been built recently and love seeing them as I drive through the town. Our schools are dependent on seeing such projects arise, and we could certainly use the help to support our tax base.

In particular, there are apartment projects being proposed on this side of town that I am very supportive of — one right down the street from me, and another near Crossgates, just a mile from my home. I plan on retiring at some point in the near future, and downsizing, and would love to know that there are modern options to consider so that I can stay put right in the area that I want to be in.

The apartments near Crossgates would be close to my family, would have quick access to grocery stores, terrific connectivity for pedestrians and bikes — something we have wanted to achieve here in Guilderland for a long time — and an easy walk to the mall and other local businesses that I love on Western Avenue.

I think that the town should be acknowledged for taking the time to look over such plans for us to move forward — plans that are well thought out and looked at from every angle.
