Drive through the fairgrounds for food and 4-H exhibits
To the Editor:
The Altamont Fair is hosting the Fair Food and Farm Frenzy on Labor Day weekend — Friday, Sept 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept 5, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, Sept. 6, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. — rain or shine! Admission is $5 per carload.
Here is another chance to support local fair food vendors and enjoy the taste of summer!
Not only can you enjoy your fair food favorites, we are hosting Cornell Cooperative Extension to showcase 4-H exhibits that you normally would have seen at the Altamont Fair, which was canceled to stem the spread of the coronavirus.
There will be farm animals, 4-H projects and exhibits, plus games for the kids that they can do from their vehicles!
This is a drive-through event. All you will have to do is drive in at the big sign on Route 146 and Arlington Street, drive up through Gate 3, enjoy the displays and exhibits while you order and pick up for take-out!
We ask that you stay in your vehicle with a mask for the transactions to minimize exposure to others. We are following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and from the Albany County Health Department. The vendors will be accepting cash; some accept credit cards.
We will have socially-distant picnic tables available in the camping area near Gate 3 or feel free to tailgate in the parking lot — a great way to enjoy your food while it is hot and stretch your legs!
And the food! We have fried dough, deep-fried Oreos, blooming onions, BBQ ribs, BBQ chicken, turkey legs, pulled pork, pizza, kettle corn, sausage and peppers, wine slushies, fresh-cut french fries, tacos, burgers, corn dogs, steak sandwiches, maple candy, cotton candy, lemonade and more!
Check our website and Facebook for the full list of vendors and menus — altamontfair.com.
Thank you for your support!
