Schoharie Library Notes for Wednesday, August 5, 2020

Hours at the Schoharie Library are Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m; Thursday from noon to 7 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The public may not come inside the library yet.

Patrons may request books through the online catalog: pac.sals.edu, e-mail: sholib@midtel.net, or phone: 518-295-7127. A pickup date and time will be set; items will be placed in the entryway at the ramp door for pickup.

The Schoharie Library is accepting  returns in our book drop, with no late fees at this time. 

We are also accepting donations; contact us to set up a drop-off time. Donated books are available on the front porch.

Summer Reading Program

The Summer Reading Program for all ages runs until August 14! Online signup is at https://schoharielibny05.readsquared.com/ This includes access to a reading log, badges, mini-games, activity ideas, and book lists. Paper signup sheets and reading logs are available at the library in the ramp door entryway. All who sign up receive a fairy journal and pen and Stewart’s ice cream coupon! 

Build

Come build a fairy/gnome house at the Schoharie Library, the Lily Park, Fox Creek Park, Landis Arboretum, or the Schoharie River Center! The Mohawk Valley Library System and member libraries are sponsoring a fun summer program, “Fairies and Gnomes - Imagine Their Homes.” For more information, activities, online programs, and a map of participating libraries and parks, go to: https://www.518fairyhomes.com/ or check the Facebook page and group, 518 Fairy Homes.

—Online “Honeybees for Libraries,” Wednesday, Aug. 5, 10 a.m. Learn about the amazing world of bees and honey with beekeepers Bob and Alyson Montione! Video with interactive Q & A;

— Online “UFO” Unfinished Object Club, Thursdays, Aug. 6 and 20, at 10 a.m. It's always easier to work on a project when you've got company! Maybe we'll even finish something;

— Online Writing Club: Meets every Monday at 6 p.m. Great chance to share and discuss your work with other writers;

— Online Knitcetera Club: Tuesdays, Aug. 11 and 25, at 10:30 a.m. Work on knitting, crocheting, quilting, and embroidery projects, catch up with friends, enjoy some connection;

— Online Storytime with Show & Tell: Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 10 a.m. Show us a pet, something you made, a book you like, etc.; and

— Online Book Discussion series:  “How to Be an Antiracist” by Ibram X. Kendi. Part one of a series. Signup form is on the website and Facebook event. Next meeting TBA. Contact the library to reserve a book.
