An extraordinary town in time of mourning

To the Editor:

The recent death of my wife, Paula Houser, has reminded me what an extraordinary town we live in.

First and foremost was the exceptional and kind care Paula received at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center on Western Avenue. While her stay this time was brief, she had received treatment at Mercycare on previous occasions. The staff and personnel at every level truly love their residents, which they clearly demonstrate every day.

Thank you to the Guilderland Department of Emergency Medical Services’ medics who provided professional and caring help to Paula on several occasions through the years.

And, finally, to my gardening friends at the Guilderland Community Gardens and my wonderful neighbors residing on Pine Ridge, Pineview, Leda, and Denny here in Guilderland: Your cards, emails, flowers, and prepared meals are greatly appreciated.

Jerry Houser
