Storytime
On March 10, the Middleburgh Library will hold its drop-in story time at 10:45 a.m.
This fun and interactive program is meant for children up to age 5 and their caregivers, although older siblings are always welcome! We read books, sing songs, play games, dance, and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required.
Mahjong Mania
On March 10 at 1 p.m. join a spirited group of people get together in the Community Room to play Mahjong. Don't know how to play? No problem! They will teach you how. No registration required.
Qi Dong
On March 10 from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. come to the library for Qi Gong a Chinese healing practice, incorporating breath and gentle movement to create a free flow of energy throughout the body. Wear loose clothing.
Insight Meditation
On March 10 at 5:15 p.m. join us for Insight Meditation. What do you want most deeply? Seeing your life calmly and clearly helps answer this. Insight Meditation is a simple way to steady your mind, stop wandering in day-dreams, and end the suffering of troubling thoughts. Our group is a place to sit quietly in safety, supported by others; to allow understanding and compassion to arise; to encourage loving-kindness and patience. We welcome those with no experience to advanced mediators', teens to seniors. give it a try. No registration is required. There is no fee. All are welcome.
Wednesday Matinee
On March 11 at 1 p.m. join us for a showing of "The Peanut Butter Falcon" rated PG-13. It is an adventure story set in the world of a modern Mark Twain that begins when Zak , a young man with Down syndrome, runs away from the nursing home where he lives to chase his dream of becoming a professional wrestler by attending the wrestling school The Salt Water Redneck. Through circumstances beyond their control Tyler , a small-time outlaw on the run, becomes Zak's unlikely coach and ally. Together they wind through deltas, elude capture, drink whisky, find God, catch fish, and convince Eleanor, a kind nursing home employee with a story of her own, to join them on their journey. No registration required. Free popcorn.
Book Discussion
On March 12 from 1 to 3 p.m.join us to discuss "America for Beginners" by Leah Franqui. Pival Sengupta has done something she never expected: she has booked a trip with the First Class India USA Destination Vacation Tour Company. But unlike other upper-class Indians on a foreign holiday, the recently widowed Pival is not interested in sightseeing. She is traveling thousands of miles from Kolkata to New York on a cross-country journey to California, where she hopes to uncover the truth about her beloved son, Rahi.
Cook-off
On March 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. join us for the 11th annual Crockpot Cook-off. Interested in participating? Sign up at the library by March 26. Provide a list of your ingredients, so we can accommodate guests with dietary restrictions. Prize categories: Chili, soup/stew, other. Limited space, so sign up soon. $50 gift certificate (Hen & Hound-Hubbies-Pasta Grill) to each category winner. Just interested in tasting and voting, donation $5, water available for $1, and desserts by donation.
