LOUDONVILLE — M. Andrea (née Volk) Hanley, a nurse who loved her family, died unexpectedly at her home on Monday, Feb. 10, 2020. She was 74.

She was born in Albany, the daughter of the late Arnold and Marion Volk.

Mrs. Volk graduated from Vincentian Institute and then, in 1966, from St. Peter’s Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for Dr. Herbert Abbott for 26 years, before retiring.  

She had a summer home in Cape Cod, where she enjoyed spending time with her family and walking Paine’s Creek Beach at sunset.

Andrea (née Volk) Hanley is survived by her husband of 53 years, Joseph Gene Hanley; by her four children, Daniel Hanley and his wife, Tami, Jason Hanley and his wife, Jill, Greg Hanley, and Kaitlin Hanley and her husband, Tim Bachman; by her three sisters, Joy Shope, Jill Bearup, and Judy Volk; and by her six grandchildren, Liam, Kiernan, Taryn, Ashlyn, Emma, and Sara.

She loved her dog, Chewie.

Her brother, Gary Volk, died before her, as did her son, Kevin Hanley.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours on Friday, Feb. 14, from 4 to 8 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals at 343 New Karner Road in Colonie. All are invited to attend her funeral Mass on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X at 23 Crumitie Road in Loudonville. Interment will be private at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
