On Friday, Jan. 24, at 2 p.m., Deputy Albany County Clerk Craig A. Carlson and Albany County Hall of Records Archivist Rebecca Shevy shed light on the documents and historic treasures held at these institutions that might aid your research. Please register online, by phone, or in person.
The Grand Playdate

The Public Enemy
Our Prohibition-Era Bootleggers and Rum Runners Film Series continues on Friday, Jan. 24 at 2 p.m. with a screening of The Public Enemy, starring James Cagney and Jean Harlow. This classic depicts two ruffians who rise up from poverty to become petty thieves, bootleggers, and finally, cold-blooded killers.
Teen volunteering

Warm jazz on a cold winter’s day? Yes, please! Art D'Echo, a classic-style trio performing jazz standards and originals, will perform Sunday, Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. for the latest installment of our Sunday Concert Series.
Wicked Albany
What was Albany really like during the Roaring 20s? University at Albany Professor Frankie Bailey will paint a fascinating picture of stark contrasts with her presentation “Wicked Albany: Lawlessness & Liquor in the Prohibition Era”, Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m.
She’ll describe how Prohibition produced the exact opposite result of its intent, merely forcing alcohol-related commerce underground, and lawlessness and violence to the forefront.

Take Your Child to the Library Day
Mark Saturday, Feb. 1 on your calendar for an exceptionally fun-filled day here as we demonstrate that “The Library is Super!” We’ll have fun activities planned throughout the day, plus a special visit from Spider-Man from 10 a.m. to noon. All ages welcome!
