Local artists, Diane Wozniak and Adam Wozniak, would like to extend a public invitation to their Artist Reception, Dec.14, from 1 to 3p.m. Diane and Adam will be displaying their work in the hall gallery during the month of December. Please be sure to stop by and meander through the gallery. Also showing this month, you don’t want to miss our Godzilla display, courtesy of the Bianchine Family.
Library Songs
On Wednesday, Dec. 18, from 7 to 8 p.m., you are invited to an evening of original compositions developed as part of the Reading Music series at Albany Public Library, including songs based on the work of Raymond Carver, John Steinbeck, Michael Ondaatje, Carson McCullers and abstracts of actual Albany County crimes of the past. Roots scholar and multi-instrumentalist Michael Eck has four solo albums to his credit and is known for his work in the folk world with Lost Radio Rounders, Ramblin Jug Stompers, Berkshire Ramblers and others. At VPL, he will be accompanied—bookended if you will—by bassist Bob Buckley and mandolinist/guitarist Sten Isachsen.
Ugly Sweater Party
Join us for a holiday cookie exchange, Thursday, Dec. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. Dress to impress in your holiday worst! Snowmen, sparkles, sequins, oh my! Wear your ugly sweater to the party! Please bring 2 dozen homemade cookies to exchange along with the recipe to share with others. Containers will be provided. Music will be playing as we enjoy snacks, make crafts, color and much more. Prizes will be given for the ugliest sweater and other fun categories! Light refreshments will be served. Please register.
Wrap Party
Need some space to wrap gifts? Come in and use our community room on Saturday, Dec. 21, 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 22, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. The library will provide tables, tape, scissors and some ribbon and a limited supply of paper.
Holiday Hours
The library will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Wednesday, Dec. 25, in observance of Christmas.
Kids Movie Matinee
Students are invited to drop in at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 27, to watch an afternoon matinee. In this sequel “it's been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: LEGO Duplo invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild!” Rated PG, 107 minutes. Refreshments served. No registration required.
Bored? Games!
Bring friends and family along to the library at 1 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 28, for games of all sorts. Board games, Switch videogames on the big screen, Minecraft on the laptops, Magic the Gathering battles and Pokemon card trading, or bring your own game board. There will be snacks! All ages, elementary school to adults; please register.
