A warm winter welcome! The Westerlo Library is a great place to come get warmed by the fireplace, enjoy our free WiFi, and borrow some great holiday DVDs! We are also here to help with printing out forms or sending a fax.
Board games and puzzles
Do you enjoy playing board games and putting together puzzles? The library has a selection of both for you to enjoy here in our Hannay Community room. Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while working on a puzzle. Come play a game or two with your friends. The community room is a great place to spend time together.
Trustees meet
The Westerlo Board of Library Trustees will meet on Monday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. in the Hannay Room at the library. This is an open public meeting.
Memoir Writing Group
The Memoir Writing Group will meet Saturday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. This group provides its members a safe and supportive place to learn together.
Led by Lila Hollister Smith, the group is open to all who are interested in self-expression through the art of writing. The group meets once a month on the second Saturday of each month and new members are welcome.
New time for book talk
Do you love reading? Then come share the books that you have been reading this month with the group.
The library’s books discussion group will meet Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 2 p.m. No assigned reading for this Books Discussion Group. New members are always welcome! We meet in the Hannay Community Room.
Artists’ Group
The Artists Group will meet Tuesday, Dec. 17, from 2:15 to 4 p.m. This group provides its members an opportunity to make art together in a spirit of fun and support. Led by Lila Hollister Smith, the group meets the third Tuesday of the month in the Library’s Hannay Community Room, which is also an art gallery.
Beginners are welcome. Bring paper and pencil. If you can sign your name, you can learn to draw! Experienced artists bring your favorite medium.
Dog therapy for all ages
Shorty, the therapy dog will be at the library to offer a quiet, lovable, companion who enjoys being petted. Having a tough day, week or month? Then come spend some time with Shorty and relax for a bit. He will be here 4 to 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16.
Story time
Join Miss Lee Wednesday mornings beginning at 11 a.m. for stories, songs, and movement activities designed for infants to children up to 5 years old. Story time is a great opportunity for caregivers and young children to meet new friends and start on the road of a lifelong love of reading.
Lego Club
Do you like playing with Legos? How tall of a tower can you make? Can you design a secret hideaway for your favorite superhero? Drop in on Monday afternoons from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. to play and create with Legos. Miss Lee is also available for homework help.
Technology Walk-In Wednesdays
Do you have a new smartphone or tablet, but don’t know how to download digital materials? Need to brush up on your computer skills –—or obtain basic skills? See Amy on Wednesdays between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for free, personalized, one-on-one instruction.
Homebound Delivery Service
Can’t make it to the library? Maybe you’ve had surgery or just don’t drive anymore. If you — or a friend or family member — would like to take advantage of borrowing books, movies and audiobooks, your public library is standing by to help!
Our Homebound Delivery Service is a free library delivery service provided to the residents of the town of Westerlo who are unable to visit the library. If you think this service might be right for you, call or visit the library during regular business hours at 518-797-3415.
