The Del Mariners/Delmar Desperados will perform for the Clarksville Historical Society program on Nov. 6.

To the Editor:

On Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m., The Del Mariners will perform sea shanties from America and England, dating back to an age when sailing vessels traveled around the globe. The Delmar Desperadoes will perform a wide range of songs: those sung on cattle drives, work songs, and songs from the singing-cowboy Hollywood era.

The singers include Phil Teumim, Ron Tweedie, and Will Vail. Both Ron and Will are affiliated with the Town of Bethlehem Senior Services.

Through this connection, they quickly learned of each other’s interest in music and began singing together. They have appeared at the Bethlehem Public Library, the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library, historical societies, and several other venues.

Phil Teumim is a Delmar resident, a singer-songwriter, and the president of Old Songs, which sponsors the Old Songs Festival in Altamont as well as many other events. He produced and released his first album of original songs, “All Over the Map,” in 2011.

Our program is held at the Clarksville Community Church at 1997 Delaware Turnpike in Clarksville. The public is encouraged to join us; refreshments will be served following the program.
