EAST BERNE — Eileen F. Sweeney, who worked with Berne doctors for many years, died peacefully on Friday, Oct. 18, 2019, at the Shaker Place (Albany County Nursing Home). She was 94.

The daughter of the late Daniel and Frances (née King) Day, she was the devoted wife of over 54 years, to the late Leonard Sweeney.

Mrs. Sweeney was a member and a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. She enjoyed working with Doctors Margery Smith and Gary Kolanchick in Berne for many years.

“Eileen loved traveling with her friends, visiting the ocean, and spending time with her family, especially her beloved dog Maxx,” her family wrote in a tribute.

She is survived by her sons, Timothy L. Sweeney and James D. Sweeney, and by many nieces and nephews. 

Her parents and husband died before her, as did her son, Brian T. Sweeney.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals at 343 New Karner Road in Albany on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 2 to 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday Oct. 28, at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church inDelmar. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.
