Library closed
The library will be closed on Oct. 14 in observance of Columbus Day.
Board meets
On Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. the Board of Trustees will meet. This meeting is open to the public.
Drop-in Storytime
On Oct. 15 at 10:45 a.m. join us for fun and an interactive program meant for children up to age 5 and their caregivers, although older siblings are always welcome! We read books, sing songs, play games, dance and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required!
Mahjong Mania
On Oct. 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday afternoons at 1 p.m. a spirited group of people get together in the Community Room to play Mahjong. Don't know how to play? No problem! They will teach you how. No registration is required.
Qi Gong
Oct. 15, from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. join us for Qi Gong a Chinese healing practice, incorporating breath and gentle movement to create a free flow of energy throughout the body. Wear loose clothing.
Insight Meditation
On Oct. 15 at 5:15 p.m. join us for Insight Meditation. What do you want most deeply? Seeing your life calmly and clearly helps answer this. Insight Meditation is a simple way to steady your mind, stop wandering in day-dreams, and end the suffering of troubling thoughts. Our group is a place to sit quietly in safety, supported by others; to allow understanding and compassion to arise; to encourage loving-kindness and patience. We welcome those with no experience to advanced meditators, teens to seniors. Give it a try. No registration is required. There is no fee. All are welcome.
Lunch and a Movie
On Oct. 16 at 1 p.m. join us for lunch and a showing of "Rocketman" rated R. A musical fantasy about the fantastical human story of Elton John's breakthrough years. The library will provide pizza and drinks, you bring a dessert or snack to share. Registration is required.
Growing Shiitake Mushrooms
On Oct. 18 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. join us for Growing Shiitake Mushrooms. Shiitakes are delicious, nutritious mushrooms you can grow from local wood. This program will provide background information about successful Shiitake mushroom cultivation. It will include how to inoculate a bolt of appropriate wood to bring home and harvest your own yummy shiitakes in the future. Registration is required. A $5 material fee will be paid to the instructor.
Best House Investigation
On Oct. 19 from 7 to 11 p.m. join us for Best House Paranormal Investigation. The Best House has witnessed its fair share of tragedy. From the death of Dr. Christopher Best’s first wife, his young son and Dr. Best himself it’s no wonder several paranormal investigations have revealed significant activity. This historic Victorian house and office offers a rare glimpse into the lives of two country doctors who’s medical practice spanned over 107 years.
Haunted Happenings
Join professional investigators from Tri-City New York Paranormal for a state of the art interactive exploration of the haunted happenings at the Dr. Best House.
