SCHOHARIE — Elizabeth B. Santore, a teacher and mother, died peacefully on Thursday, June 20, 2019, in the comfort of her Barton Hill Road home in Schoharie, surrounded by her loving family. She was 97.

Mrs. Santore was born Aug. 15, 1921 in Albany, a daughter of Judge George Bigsbee and Anna M. (née Sypher) Bigsbee. She graduated as valedictorian from Altamont High School and later, from Albany Teachers’ College in 1943.

She taught business classes at Berne-Knox and Ballston Spa schools prior to staying at home to raise her family. She enjoyed reading, poetry, gardening, baking, and taking nature walks.

Elizabeth B. Santore is survived by her husband, Victor A. Santore, whom she married Oct. 24, 1948, by her five children; George Santore and his wife, Normita, of Cobleskill, Ann Santore of Schoharie, James Santore and his wife, Elaine, of Schoharie, Victor Santore and his wife, Kim, of Ft. Plain, and Elizabeth Santore and Bob Ramey of Duanesburg; and by her five grandchildren and her five great-grandchildren.

A graveside memorial service was held on Wednesday, June 26, at the Middleburgh Cemetery, old section, with Father Jeff L’Arche officiating. The Langan Funeral Home of Schoharie and the Robert A. Guffin Funeral Home of Cobleskill are assisting the Santore family.
