Getting wet for a cause: Members of the Guilderland and Guilderland Center fire departments participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge that has been sweeping the country to raise money for the ALS Association, which announced this week it had received $15.6 million in donations from July 29 to Aug. 18 compared to $1.8 million during the same time period last year. Here, chiefs David Dodge, of Guilderland Center, left, and Jim Schanz of Guilderland stand in front of other department members while water falls from Guilderland Center Truck 49 as ice is being dumped from Guilderland’s Truck 29 last Saturday at the Altamont Fair in Altamont.
