Lorraine Miggael Ferris

COLONIE — Lorraine Ferris, a loving mother, was active in the Capital Region, where she spent most of her life, with a career in banking and as a homemaker.

Lorraine Miggael Ferris died on Thursday, July 25, 2013 in Rensselaerville. She was 83.

Born and educated in Albany, Mrs. Ferris rose through 24-and-a-half years of working at Key Bank to become assistant vice president. She retired in June of 1989.

Mrs. Ferris was a part-time Travel Escort for Boscov’s Travel Centers during her retirement. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul’s Catholic Church; officer and member of the Albany Fort Orange Chapter 1593 American Association of Retired Persons; a past member of he Colonie Elks Lodge Ladies’ Auxiliary; a past member of the Christian Brothers Academy Mothers’ Association; and a past officer and member of the American Institute of Banking.

“Lorraine will be remembered by all those whose lives she touched because of her love of life, her warm sense of humor, her beautiful smile, and her contagious laugh,” her family wrote in a tribute. “She will truly be missed by all who knew her.”

Lorraine Miggael Ferris is survived by her children, Karen Ferris-Fearnside of Niskayuna, and Stephen P. Ferris of Poestenkill; her grandchildren, Matthew R., Jeffrey R., and Brittany L. Fearnside of Niskayuna; and several nieces, nephews, and her great-grandson, Ryan R. Fearnside.

Her husband, Robert M. Ferris, died before her, as did her parents, Carl T. Miggael and Anna Marie Daly Miggael, and her brothers, Carl T. Miggael and Ronald E. Miggael.

The funeral was held at the McVeigh Funeral Home in Albany on July 29, with interment in St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.
