ALTAMONT — Patricia A. Grant, a woman who dedicated her life to making others happy, died on Friday, Aug. 15, 2014. She was 60.

Mrs. Grant was born on March 4, 1954, to the late Edward and Mickey (née Civitello) Rozell.

She met her husband of 36 years, Richard J. Grant, in 1977, when they were employed by the same company.

“It was love at first sight,” he said.

The two got married on March 4, 1978 — her 23rd birthday.

They built a house in Altamont and raised two sons there.

Mrs. Grant loved camping in the Adirondacks and going walking and cross-country skiing in the woods.

Her husband said she was a fantastic cook, and was famous for her lasagna, eggplant parmesan, and meatballs.

Her greatest joy in life, however, came from doing things for others.

“She preferred that other people were happy ahead of herself,” said Mr. Grant. “She would go out of her way to make anybody else happy.”

“Everything she did, she did from the bottom of her heart,” he said.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Grant is survived by her children, Richard J. Grant II and his wife, Hannah, of Delanson, and Dennis M. Grant, of Buffalo; her grandchildren, Adrianna, Oliver, and Tyler; and her brother Edward Rozell and his wife, Cindy, of Rotterdam.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, Aug. 22, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St., Altamont. A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. Online condolences may be left at www.fredendallfuneralhome.com.
