Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek." -- Former President Barack Obama

Link yesterday with today as we work together to build a better tomorrow at this 18th annual Public History Conference organized by Underground Railroad History Project.

Underground Railroad Freedom Seekers sought sanctuary in Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Africa and Europe. Today’s expression of sanctuary acknowledges that memory but is demonstrated in contemporary border confrontations at the Mexican and Canadian borders and in the seeking of sanctuary within the United States by those fleeing discrimination and oppression. Join with others to investigate this theme, explore the concept of Sanctuary and its relationship to the Underground Railroad movement, and the implications for us today.
