On Saturday morning, local singer Melissa Sgambelluri who is starting her own non-for-profit organization dropped off food donations to a place of regular in her heart, Happy Cat Rescue in Guilderland Center.

Handing over donations, Melissa Sgambelluri, left, puts three boxes of Friskies cat food into a shopping cart brought out by Chuck Scott outside the Guilderland Center home he shares with his wife, Marcia — and many rescued cats. “Marcia and Chuck have gone without to be able to take care of these cats,” said Mary Ann Casale, who has adopted two kittens from Happy Cat Rescue. “Some of these rescued cats and kittens have come from the worst situations and they make sure that they are rescued and taken care of by a vet immediately.”
