DELANSON — Theresa P. Luksa spread unconditional love, to the children at the Duanesburg school where she worked and to her family and friends, her family said. She died peacefully at her home on Monday, Dec. 24, 2018. She was 89.

She was the loving wife of World War II Navy veteran, Frank E. Luksa, for 68 years “They met at a wedding and danced their way through life,” her family wrote in a tribute.

She was born and educated In Swoyersville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Ellis Island immigrants Franciscus and Teofila Kujawski. Her nine brothers and sisters died before her.

Fondly known as Mimi, Mrs. Luksa loved people, cooking, and sewing. “She was a fashionista who loved to socialize,” her family wrote. “Theresa possessed an amazing sense of humor, a beautiful smile and proceeded through life with grace.

“As a young woman she designed and manufactured doll clothes, later sharing those talents with her family by sewing matching outfits, cheerleading uniforms, and prom dresses. On her last day of life, she even fixed a button for her dear husband.”

For many years, Mrs. Luksa was an executive secretary at the Duanesburg Central School. She once drove a 1964 Ford Mustang and was an enthusiastic supporter of local veterans’ groups.

“Theresa never forgot what was really important in life,” her family wrote. “Her unconditional love was spread far and wide, from schoolchildren to family and friends. Her favorite words were ‘Ja Cię Kocham,’ meaning’ I love you’ in Polish.”
