Richard Sherwood, left, appears before Judge Peter Lynch in Albany County Court on Dec. 5, with his attorney, William Dreyer, right. Sherwood resigned as Guilderland town judge after he and a co-conspirator, Thomas Lagan, were charged with stealing millions of dollars from wealthy elderly clients. Sherwood pleaded guilty in Albany County Court on June 11 to second-degree grand larceny. He also faces separate federal charges. Wednesday’s sentencing was postponed because the case against Lagan has not been resolved, Dreyer told The Enterprise later. “If everything wraps up, let me know. I don’t want to have you keep coming back just for exercise,” Lynch said in court to Sherwood and Dreyer. Lynch set Sherwood’s return date for June 5, 2019.
