Tree lighting & vigil

The Enterprise — H. Rose Schneider

A crowd gathers at Orsini Park in Altamont on Friday night to remember people and pets who have died. In a fundraiser for the Altamont Free Library, patrons paid for each light hung from the gazebo to remember a person or animal they loved. Each name was read out loud during the brief ceremony. The names included two young men, Christian Peters and Chris Davis, who died in separate crashes in September.

A vigil for loved ones lost ends on a joyful note with a tree-lighting at the gazebo in Altamont’s village green. A cheer went up in the cold night air.
