Hulbert, Kent join Guard

These soldiers have recently completed Army basic combat training and advanced individual training for the New York Army National Guard:

— Pfc. David Hulbert from Guilderland was welcomed into the 42nd Infantry Division Signal Company during a transition ceremony 0n Sept. 8 at the Glenmore Road Armory in Troy; and

— Pvt. Maxwell Kent from Voorheesville was welcomed into the Headquarters and Support Company, 42nd Infantry Division during a transition ceremony held Sept. 8 at the Leeds Armory in Catskill.

They were among 80 new soldiers welcomed to their units during a battle handoff ceremony, marking their completion of the National Guard Recruit Sustainment Program, a preparatory training program that provides new recruits with training, lessons and skills.

The soldiers will now embark on their traditional National Guard service to state and nation as part-time Citizen Soldiers.
