DELANSON —  Lynda M. Harrington, who worked for the Thruway authority and loved her family, died on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 61.

She was born in Albany, on June 27, 1957, the daughter of Alberta Knauf and the late Robert P. Knauf Sr.

She retired from the New York State Thruway Authority after 20 years of service.

“She enjoyed kayaking and swimming,” her family wrote in a tribute, “but most of all she loved her family.”

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, James D. Harrington Jr.; her girls, Jessica Marie Harrington and Marc Ammann of Portland, Oregon, and Rachel Lorraine Page and her husband, Brian, of Altamont; and a granddaughter due Nov. 21, 2018.

She is also survived by her twin sister, Lorraine Berkley, and her husband, David, of Delanson; her brother, Robert P. Knauf Jr. and his wife, Liz, of Sprakers, New York; her brother-in-law, Jeffrey Harrington, and Jill Raymond of Guilderland; her sister-in-law Ellen Fisher and her husband, Kirk, of Guilderland; her brother-in-law Eric Harrington and Lisa Serafini; her brother-in-law Greg Harrington and his wife, Patti, of Glenmont; and several nieces and nephews and friends.

Her husband’s parents, James and Shirley Harrington, died before her, as did her sister-in-law Jane Harrington.

Her family gives “a special thank-you to the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital and New York Oncology Hematology for their fantastic care during this difficult time.”

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fredendall Funeral Home at 199 Main Street in Altamont with a service to follow at 7 p.m. Interment will take place on Monday, Oct. 29, at 1:15 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Altamont.
