VOORHEESVILLE — Randy Lee Edwards, who “worked on the bridges that span the great State of New York,” was a compassionate and loving man, his family said.

He died on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018. He was 51.

Born on Sept. 18, 1967, Mr. Edwards was a foreman at Northern Stud Welding and a member of the Ironworkers Union Local 440 for the past 19 years.

“He was the best friend for more than 32 years of Aimee Burlew Edwards,” an adoring father, a delighted grandfather, and a “loyal, loving brother,” his family wrote in a tribute.

“Beyond his family, Randy’s passions included hunting, boating, fishing, and golf,” his family wrote. “He took great pride in maintaining a world-class vegetable garden and enjoyed canning the fruits of his labor with the help of his bride.

“Randy’s lifetime friendships were too many to count. Those who were fortunate enough to call him a friend, can trust they were his. He was a compassionate and loving man — always ready to lend a hand or push you out of the way so he could get the job done right. Randy did it all.”

He is survived by his wife, Aimee Burlew Edwards; his children, Keith and his wife, Jennifer, and Kenzie; his grandson, Jeremiah; and his siblings, Donald Edwards and his wife, Mickey, of Tucson, Arizona, William Edwards and his wife, Shari, of Voorheesville, and Suzanne Trudell and her husband, Paul, of Gansevoort.

His parents, James and Louise Edwards, died before him, as did his brother, James.

Calling hours will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Friday, Oct. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m., and a funeral service and celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 11 a.m., also at Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 85 Elm Avenue in Delmar. Burial services will be private. Arrangements are by the Reilly & Son Funeral Home in Voorheesville.
