Frances ‘Frank’ Herbert Person Jr.
VOORHEESVILLE — Frances “Frank” Herbert Person Jr. — a World War II veteran who was active in community affairs — died peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany on Sunday, Sept. 9. He was 93.
“Frank was a lifelong resident of the village of Voorheesville, and was known for his loyalty, community spirit, generosity, and sense of humor,” his family wrote in a tribute.
He served in Italy during World War II, and returned home to marry Arlene Hilda Crounse, his best friend and the love of his life.
He worked for the New York State Tax Department, and was a Boy Scout leader, volunteer firefighter, and member of the Voorheesville ambulance squad. He was a founding member of the Voorheesville American Legion and served on the village zoning board. He was a devoted lifetime member of the New Scotland Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his son, Donald Person; by his son-in-law, Larry Loop; by his grandchildren, Eric Person, Katie Foshea and her husband, Joel, Rachel Person and Steve Sheinkin, and Lesley Loop; and by his great-grandchildren, DeWolfe Morrow, Emmy and Boone Foshea, and Anna and David Sheinkin.
His wife, Arlene Hilda Crounse Person, died before him, as did his daughter, Linda Loop.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, at the New Scotland Presbyterian Church at 2010 New Scotland Rd. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home in Voorheesville.
