Voorheesville Library Notes for Thursday, September 6, 2018
Join us on Sunday, Sept. 9, at 2 p.m. for a fun, contemporary, family film.
“While navigating their careers in Los Angeles, a pianist and an actress fall in love while attempting to reconcile their aspirations for the future,” says the Internet Movie Database. The film runs for 128 minutes, and is rated PG-13
Trip to Dickinson House
Join us on Tuesday, Sept. 25, for a day trip to visit the Emily Dickinson House in Amherst, Massachusetts. We will have a 60-minute private guided tour of both The Homestead and Evergreens family houses.
After the tour, there is time to explore the museum grounds and village on your own — a short walk to various eateries and shopping. The cost is $55 per person, $50 for Friends of the Library members.
The bus will leave Voorheesville at 7:45 a.m. and return around 6 p.m. The price includes transportation and the museum entry fee. The trip sponsored by the Friends of the Voorheesville Public Library.
Join the Library Expedition!
Visit as many of the 36 Upper Hudson Library System libraries as you can during the months of September, October, and November. Enjoy the self-guided road trip after picking up the map/passport at the Voorheesville Public Library.
You’ll earn prizes when you’ve visited 5, 15, 25, and 36 locations.
To launch the Library Expedition, VPL will be throwing an “Elephant & Piggie” party at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8! We will be sharing “Elephant & Piggie” books, activities, and a cake. Elephant & Piggie will be at the library in person.
Bacon Bits, the therapy pig, and his therapy pig-in-training, Albert Einswine, will be paying a special visit, too. Come join the fun as we launch the Library Expedition! This event is for children ages 2 and up with families. No registration is required.

The Friends of the Library Annual Book Sale is right around the corner. Please join us as we celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of our new enlarged Encore! Books.

After 30 years of commitment to the Voorheesville Public Library, Director Gail Sacco is set to retire. Please join us in a community send-off at the New Scotland Town Park on Sunday, Sept. 30, from 1 to 6 p.m.
This will be a potluck luncheon with music, and games for the kiddies. More information will follow, but save the date!
